The temperature is going down and the idea of leaving your warm, eco-friendly apartment in Lynnfield is more daunting than ever. For those of you bold enough to travel outside the confines of your luxury apartment, we've compiled a list of winter activities worth leaving the house for!

Traditional Outdoor Fun

-Skiing. Whether you are a pro-skier that doesn't have the time to travel to a more northerly destination, or if you have never ever seen a pair of skis, Ski Bradford located 30 minutes north in Haverhill offers the perfect local fix for skiers of all experience levels. Bradford is a great family mountain with clinics and lessons for both skiers and snowboarders, both young and old. Lift tickets begin at $15 for beginners.

-Ice Skating. If you, or your kids, would prefer to skate, The Stoneham Arena is now open for the season! Located at 101 Montvale Ave. in Stoneham, the Arena offers a variety of programs. Public skating hours are Monday - Friday 10 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. Skate rentals are available.

For a more unique skating experience, check out the Market Street Outdoor Skating Rink in Lynnfield, it is open for public skating from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. Monday - Thursday, 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Skate rentals are available.

-Sledding. If you're feeling even more adventurous, go sledding. Locals tend to bring their tubes and sleds to local golf courses including the Sagamore Golf Course in Lynnfield and Bear Hill Golf Course in Stoneham. Not all courses allow - so check before you sled!

Indoor Fun

-Get fit with hot yoga or rock climbing. Yes, you can do these two activities anytime but the cold weather makes working out and staying healthy that much harder. Why not try something new, fun and warm instead of running outdoors every day? Try the Boston Rock Gym in Woburn or try hot yoga at Centre Yoga in Lynnfield.

For a truly unique exercise/play experience, check out the Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park in Everett. This is not just for kids. Give it a bounce.

-Museums. This might be the easiest and most intellectual way to enjoy a chilly day! We know the museums tend to be a little on the expensive side, so join the Lynnfield Public Library to have access to discounted passes to a variety of museums including the Boston Children's Museum, Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Science in Boston.

-Get in the Holiday Spirit. There are tons of local spots to wrap up your holiday shopping, including the Market Street shops in town, but also consider the quick trip to Boston enjoy the magic of the city during the holiday season. Stroll through Faneuil Hall and see the city decorated with lights and trees.

Just because it's cold doesn't mean you have to be bored and miserable! There are plenty of things to do in the North Shore and Boston area to keep you entertained no matter what your preferences are.
